About this artwork
This is a piece that I have allowed to smoulder slowly as in in a ritual of surrender to the path. Consisting of three stages or realms of existence, the artwork presents a journey back to the Self, though it can be argued whether one has ever left it. My use of oil and charcoal on wood that has been partially and intentionally burned, paints a tapestry of life's journey right through to the ultimate surrender.

Lu Szweda is a multidisciplinary artist based in the United Kingdom whose works have been featured in several solo and group exhibitions in Ireland. He explores non-dualism that takes us beyond attachment to the often frightening and broken human condition. Szweda seeks to bypass the conditioned, divisive content of the mind, directly connecting with the primordial awareness within the viewer. The primary goal of Lu's art is to bring the viewer back to the source, to the heart of being. His work proposes new perspectives.
