About this artwork
In my art, I have tried to capture the tension between the real and the unreal, where the subject emerges from the void like a dream taking shape. I used sanguine which I lightly colored with very diluted acrylic, to obtain the shadows and roundness of a face.
In reality, it is a drawing that reproduces a statue by Mitoraj, a great contemporary sculptor who I love very much and who I also love to reproduce on canvas.
I like his rereading of the… classics, these serious, sometimes expressionless faces.
It seems to explore the fluidity of identity, with semi-abstract touches caressing the figure, bringing energy and mystery to the room, inviting contemplation and personal interpretation. It is a visual dance, a call to reflection.
