About this artwork
I presented this work in Bergamo at the Duepuntozero gallery on the occasion of the VIZI E VIRTU' exhibition in May 2023.
I tried to represent the struggle of man between the deep darkness, black streaked with copper-red flashes of pleasure, the pleasure that vices give, and the desire to escape from them, especially if these vices are toxic to us.
Above is the light, the purity of the white veined however by lumps and residues of suffering.
Nothing… is easy.
In the work I created, I wanted to explore the eternal struggle between darkness and light, between chaos and order. Using a mixed media of acrylic, chalk and tar, I tried to capture the emotional complexity of this battle. The rough textures and bold brush strokes reflect the tensions and complexities of life. This work embodies the power of transformations and challenges, bringing an energy full of depth and reflection to any space it is placed in.

Luana Baldi, a native of Tuscany, mixes cement, plaster and glue to create contemporary and abstract canvases full of materiality. His style oscillates between the opacity of acrylic and the shine of tar, creating bold contrasts. His works are a chromatic journey into emotional depth, from the intense black of the night to the boundless blue of the sea.
