About this artwork
As when thick fog manages to create a wall masking the horizon, the air here becomes a visible part of the landscape by merging with the mineral and the vegetal in the same almost informal density. A veil made of diffuse light allows to evoke a part of mystery, an ambiguity on the possible presence of another world and of which it would manifest the tangible and crossable border. At the bottom of the canvas stands a body of water, both source and… vestige of a larger expanse, without this indicating more clarity on the real scale of the elements of the landscape, adding even more to the mystery and the ambient ambiguity. I used acrylic applied with a spalter with water as a diluent. Payne's Gray, Hooker's Green, Hooker's Green Dark and Natural Sienna were sufficient to materialize the colors.
Luc Andrieux is an artist based in France whose works have been presented in several solo and group exhibitions nationally and internationally. For him, painting is like a vital necessity. Through his compositions, Andrieux's goal is to generate a questioning contemplation, to freeze time and to induce an atmosphere suggested by the hidden face of the elements. His abstractions, landscapes and figurative works are most often created using acrylics on canvas, oil being reserved for the treatment of more complex effects. Luc Andrieux does not limit himself to a particular style or theme that would limit his expression but chooses those that are most in line with his vision of the moment.
