About this artwork
I have always wondered if it was possible to paint silence and if so, in what way, I suppose its possible representation would be an entirely white or entirely black surface. In this case, any attempt at figuration and even abstraction would be in vain. I told myself that a minimalist landscape could at least partially respond to this challenge provided it represented an uninhabited or even uninhabitable place, without movement, in any case without…
animal or plant life. In this landscape that I wanted to be figurative and which seems forever frozen in time, I tried to respond to this problem by simplifying the natural elements as much as possible while adding essential light to the visibility of the perspective.

Luc Andrieux is an artist based in France whose works have been presented in several solo and group exhibitions nationally and internationally. For him, painting is like a vital necessity. Through his compositions, Andrieux's goal is to generate a questioning contemplation, to freeze time and to induce an atmosphere suggested by the hidden face of the elements. His abstractions, landscapes and figurative works are most often created using acrylics on canvas, oil being reserved for the treatment of more complex effects. Luc Andrieux does not limit himself to a particular style or theme that would limit his expression but chooses those that are most in line with his vision of the moment.
