About this artwork
Ludwigstein Castle, known as the archive of the German youth movement, is located on the Werra near the junction with the Fulda to form the new Weser river in Hesse. On the other side of the Werra is a border castle of the neighboring state of Thuringia, the Hanstein. Ludwig Plotter chose the road from Wendershausen to Werleshausen, directly on the Werra, as the place to set up his painting utensils. The picture was taken on a cloudy April day in…
1999. In terms of painting technique, the picture shows an extreme struggle between oil paints and shellac paints and the intervention of spray paints from a can. The picture could not be erected in front of the motif for photographing, because it still represented a lake of color in this picturesque embryonic stage. The picture was finished with the title: "Hold your lines!" And that's a motto that can be popular in many life situations. But of course the opposite can also be popular: "Leave your lines" - but not with this picture.

Ludwig Plotter is an award-winning artist based in Germany whose paintings have been feautred in numerous solo and group exhibitions nationally. Through his distinctive works, he explores themes relating to nature and all that flows within it. For Plotter, there is no difference between technique and painting, just as there is no difference between art and science. He primarily creates with oils, tempera, resin, spray paint, and gouache on canvas.
