About this artwork
One of the beautiful young researchers at the Cairns Aquarium was heavily pregnant with her 1st baby.
I painted her with her eyes covered as she did not know the gender of her baby.
Using pink over her eyes came naturally as I didn't know the baby would be a girl.
It just felt suitable to use pink.
The fish's tail caresses her with water and is symbolic in birthing as we use water a lot during delivery.
Cool flannels, water births, showers, cleaning,… and gentle care for mother and baby.
It is also fitting that a marine animal is now looking after the human mother reciprocating the care and help.
I've used a lot of pearlescent paint; the canvas has thick water quality and is heavily embossed.
It's a big piece, and quality Golden brand paints have been used along with a solid wood canvas frame.
Pine frame, ready to hang. She's a delight, so much better in real life.
Arrives with a certificate of authenticity.
Carefully wrapped and ready to hang with D-rings on the back.
