In creating this piece, I channeled a blend of emotions, crafting a figure that speaks to the complexities of human expression. The rich texture of the acrylics lends a tangible depth, reflecting life's tactile nature. Figurative and impressionistic strokes converge, forging a visage that is at once ethereal and grounded, while the symbolic golden hues suggest a certain divine light shining through ordinary circumstance. Original inspired by my travels to Italy in Oct 23. I attended many galleries in, Florence, Rome, Naples and in Scilly where I sketched many master pieces unavailable to us in Australia. Arriving home in my studio I painted many works and Mary is the best outcome from this period of time.
So much looking forward to travelling again and seeing and drawing many more master pieces.

Luisa Manea is an award-winning multidisciplinary artist based in Australia whose works have been exhibited nationally. In her artistic practice, she fuses textile art with fashion design and sculpture. Manea believes that, in the future, both art and fashion will interflow, inspiring us to be unique individuals and "accepting a more diverse culture of people". Her painterly compositions are most often created with acrylics on canvas.
