About this artwork
The pose of the little girl in the yellow dress placed in the foreground blocks the movement in a suggestion that recalls and pays homage to the youthful works of the great master De Chirico. The figure almost seems to come out of the painting due to its three-dimensionality given by the skillful rendering of the thick hair and the dress, both struck by a strong light of a wonderful day near the sea of Sorrento, in the distance in fact you can see…
the singular shape of Vesuvius rendered, together with the sea, the sky and the floor, in pastel, the aim is to tell the story of the place but placing it on a lower hierarchical scale compared to the true protagonist of the work. In fact, everything takes shape by approaching the little girl, while it is not completed, as you move away; even the discourse of the "unfinished" finds its nature in the studies of Italian and Michelangelesque art but in a key all its own. My face is carved in the rock as I want to be an essential reference for my daughter.
