About this artwork
A work by Antoni Tàpies in the Museo Reina Sofia, Madrid triggered a deep contact in Luzena and with it a desire to have her own first experience with concrete. For this purpose, Luzena used a paper coated on the back which was used to mask the floor in her former studio. Many traces of paint and splashes of material showed a colorful mixture in a rare composition that reflected the life of the artist. Luzena added earth pigments to the concrete…
that she had brought back from her travels from different countries. During the application of the earth pigment mixture, more and more round shapes of a female body emerged.
'Die ErdFrau' is oversized. This work leads to an awareness of the connection with being a woman and her earth.

« "A foreboding feeling lives within me, unshaped and without imagination. In the course of the creative act, this takes shape in painted works. I let myself be carried away by the joy of experimenting." »
