About this artwork
As this painting developed, it became a big-shape gritty landscape. That was my goal when I began—to invent a narrative with shape and texture. If you look closely, you will notice the castle wall at the top edge of the paper. In addition, ghostly figures are present in a few dark areas. Rocks below anchor the darkness above and offer the stony feeling of an ancient landscape.
Castle Rock Canyon is painted with acrylic, high flow ink, and collage.… It has an 8 ply matt and is framed with a Larson Juhl molding, suitable for hanging in any style home or office.
