M.J. Benson is an exciting American painter who, in high school, was handed a camera that soon became her constant companion. She has since transitioned to painting, but her work retains a photographer's keen sense of composition, color, and light. While Benson is influenced by the ever-changing and awe-inspiring natural world, she is 'unbound by realism'. Benson takes the horizon as her starting point for any work, and from there her pieces bloom outwards in rich, textured, softly expressive layers.
