About this artwork
My work explores time, transience, and the traces that remain. "Weathered Gold" depicts gold not as a gleaming substance, but as a lived-in, aged material. The rough, multi-layered surface evokes something organic, a wall or landscape that carries history within it.
The process creates layers, cracks, and areas of density through application, removal, and deliberate letting go. In this way, the image becomes a silent space for memory, change, and… the value inherent in imperfection.
« It's the transience of things that inspires me. »
Magdalena Oppelt is an abstract artist whose work is characterized by color, emotion, and the power of textures. Currently, her focus is on magenta, purple, and green tones—colors that oscillate between energy and stillness and create a strong atmospheric depth. Her paintings emerge from an intense, intuitive process. Layer by layer, compositions develop in which structure, movement, and depth merge. The focus is less on representation than on the direct experience of color and material. The open pictorial spaces invite viewers to discover their own feelings and associations within the works. Magdalena Oppelt works primarily with acrylic on canvas and experiments with different techniques to create vibrant, multi-layered surfaces. Her works reflect an exploration of nature, inner life, and transformation.
