About this artwork
This work is based on a childhood memory.
When I visited my grandma, there was a little ritual: I was allowed to buy myself a sweet. It was never just about the taste, but about the feeling – the clinking of the coins in my hand, the anticipation of choosing, and the quiet knowledge of being seen and loved.
I often opted for colorful chewing gums like these.
With this image, I capture precisely this moment: the carefree spirit, the intensity of… the colors, and the special warmth inherent in seemingly small gestures. The vibrant hues represent the clarity and purity of childhood memories – immediate, honest, and full of meaning.
What seems ordinary at first glance is, for me, a tribute to love, security, and the little rituals that accompany us throughout our lives.
