About this artwork
The photographer watched as families clambered into the smoking, burnt shells of their former homes. The district had been attacked the night before by a anti-Christian mob who luted and then set fire to the houses. This was Joseph Colony, a poor area of the city of Lahore, Pakistan, in 2013. a community. They are; the Holy, the Apostolic, the Universal and the One. The idea grew in reaction to the crude violence, to take the scars of the fire in the broken houses and create a space for healing. Instead of stained glass windows, the photographer made these dark images. These are images for contemplation, they are designed to contain a large amount of information, to be the size of windows and to be experienced as a place to reassess our own reaction to traumatic events.

Malcolm Hutcheson took his first photograph on a windy beach in the north of Scotland. He suddenly felt that as he pointed his camera at the rest of the world, he became invisible.
