About this artwork
The process begins by folding a blank linen surface into a series of fixed undulations, followed by the application of many 'wet-on-wet' paint pours over the form. Gravity directs the paint from the elevated areas to the lower areas. After drying, this procedure is repeated in additional predetermined directions. The surface is then… flattened and mounted onto a frame.
The idea is only complete when the membrane is unraveled and the results are revealed stretched -out on the 2D picture plane. This creates the human visual experience, serving as a metaphor for how we perceive the world.
Oil on Belgian linen.

« Membrane Art is a doorway to endless possibilities. It’s heavily dependent upon the geometric surface which underpins it, and until it's unraveled, we are blind to all possible outcomes. »
This body of work, which explores the enigmatic boundary between the present and the future, from the tension inherent in a curved surface to the tranquillity of a flat plane, it invites us on a transformative, non-linear journey, encouraging deeper contemplation and meditation on our observations.
