work from a series of paintings on paper in the format 50 X 65 cm. this series completes the large works on canvas. it is a work on the gesture, the instantaneous expression which makes emerge by the multiplication a more or less dense organization. the gesture draws what might look like a sign or a letter. in both cases the result is the same.

Malek Salah cannot separate his meditation practice from his creative works, as the two are inextricably linked. The Algerian multi-disciplinary artist discovered transcendental meditation in the 1970s. For him it is a means of discovering the mysteries of creation, as well as a ‘way of being in creation’. Salah’s artistic language is conveyed through gestural narrative painting. He employs acrylics and gesso for painting and uses mixed technique lacquer, graphite drawing, and dry pastels.
