About this artwork
This artwork is painted with my hands taped together in order to generate an energy of restriction and expression. It's part of a special series I created in 2020.
In crafting this piece, I dove deep into the emotional spectrum, utilizing the vivid intensity of oils to create a textural dance of colors and forms. It's an abstract expression, channeling raw, chaotic emotions through sweeping, bold strokes and a dynamic palette of blacks, purples,… and whites. I aimed to capture the tumultuous nature of human feelings, inviting viewers to reflect on their own inner landscapes. This artwork will infuse any space with a powerful, contemplative energy.

“Art must hold space for what cannot be spoken.”
Manja McCade is a contemporary artist whose practice moves between abstraction, memory, and social awareness. Rooted in painting yet open to cross-disciplinary dialogue, her work explores presence, loss, and the pursuit of freedom. McCade’s process is intuitive and physical — color, gesture, and rhythm become her language.
Alongside her studio practice, she develops projects that question silence and visibility in political and emotional contexts, including Belmarsh Live, her long-term engagement with freedom of speech and justice.
Based in Dessau, Germany, McCade creates works that invite reflection — art as a space for truth, empathy, and transformation.
