About this artwork
The contrast between the darkness under the trees and the light far away, probably an open space, caught the artist's attention. As an impressionist, Marcel is mainly interested in the interplay between light and dark. And especially with trees and their foliage. He usually opts for square canvas formats, but for this work he used a landscape format.
