Mexico
« Art is a confession. No matter how hard you try, you cannot do something you are not. »
Marcela Avelar is a Mexican artist based in the United States whose paintings have been exhibited nationally. Through her works, she challenges the framework of self-identity via perspective and context, inviting viewers to question conventional frames of reference. Avelar most often creates with acrylics, pastels, gouache, watercolors, and colored pencils on wood, Plexiglas, synthetic board, or paper.
