About this artwork
A shapeless material, the result of waste from a turning shop, is recomposed in the central element assuming a geometrically regular shape. In reality, the small elements that compose it are cases whipped by the blade of an emery. Red glass elements intervene at irregular intervals. The clear surface that surrounds it is a Sardinian wool fabric (orbace) that makes the content of the work neutral and stable. Also in this case, in their apparent stillness,…
the cartridge cases deceive the observer with the luminous glows of their golden surface.
Marcello Simeone
Italy
« The tragedy of life is that everyone has their reasons. -J. Renoir. »
Marcello Simeone is an Italian textile artist whose works have been widely exhibited on a national level, as well as in the United Kingdom. He became an artist in order to make sense of the immaterial dimension of his personal existential experience and to communicate his concepts in unconventional places. The central element of Simeone's artistic practice is based on the awareness that reality is not what it appears to be. His multi-dimensional compositions are created using wool on wood.
