About this artwork
The artwork presents a female figure shown frontally, with crossed arms forming a gesture of tension and anticipation. The silhouette is constructed from clearly defined, geometric fields of color that, like a mosaic, organize the body and face, giving the composition rhythm and structural discipline. A strong, dark contour line unifies the form and emphasizes the architectural and stained-glass–like character of the artwork.
A palette based on… warm ochres, yellows, and reds contrasts with the cool blues of the background, creating a pronounced emotional tension. The model’s face remains calm yet distant — her gaze directed straight at the viewer suggests focus, expectation, and even a growing sense of impatience. The abstract, color-blocked background does not depict a specific space, instead reinforcing the formal autonomy of the composition and highlighting its decorative rhythm.
« Every time I start a new painting, I can't wait to see the result. When I finish, I can't wait to start a new one. »
Marcin Lenczowski is a Polish artist whose paintings have been featured in solo exhibitions nationally. His artistic expression focuses on individuals who are often portrayed in opposition to broader society. Lenczowski's compositions express feelings of alienation, loneliness, and the need for self-expression in juxtaposition to the environment, and the preservation of identity in modern society. He emphasizes minimalistic methods, including strong contouring and contrasting colors, "rather than imposing the meaning of art".
