About this artwork
Rebus is what you have to discover, connecting clues and ideas. Being able to understand what often escapes us. Rebus is an enigma, it's what we would like to express but we don't always succeed. I like Rebus because it's a picture that I could draw and paint endlessly. It arises from asemic writing whose meaning is suggested by the drawn shapes.
I created this work on a blue glass plate and silver leaves engraved with a steel tip and painted with… high temperature colors. All enclosed in a crystal glass plate, to keep the precious leaf unaltered. The painting is ready and I put it in the oven where it reaches the melting temperature of 780 degrees and slowly cools with a cycle of approximately 30 hours. Finally I have the glass in my hand ready to be finished through the cold grinding process. The finished work is coupled to a wooden panel and finally framed.

Marco Scaramuzza, a multifaceted artist and master glassmaker, merges his love for Murano glass with his training as a painter. In addition to painting, he uses the techniques of glass fusing, lampwork and graffiti, enriching many of his works with precious silver leaves which become the canvas for his paintings.
