About this artwork
For “Shadows and Light” I was inspired by Joni Mitchell's album of the same name to which I am very attached. Being able to recreate the sense of shadow that mixes with light by detailing the spaces. A strong, dark sign that softens by playing with colors until it lights up. I created this work with a sheet of black glass and silver leaves on which I engraved my design with a fine steel tip and painted it with high temperature colours. I prepare…
very fine filigrees with the lampwork technique by mixing various colors of glass, which become the completion of the work and are placed on a plate of crystal glass which encloses the painting, giving it brilliance and avoiding the oxidation of the silver. The painting is ready and I put it in the oven where it reaches the melting temperature of 780 degrees and slowly cools for a 25 hour cycle. I finally have the glass in my hand ready to be finished through the grinding process and framed.
