About this artwork
This is the second portrait dedicated to my Rebel Queens series. This time it is The Queen of England Elizabeth I. She was rebellious in so many aspects of her life but I am left with the fact that she was rebellious as a woman by deciding never to marry or have children, which is why she became known as the Virgin Queen. It is painted in oil but also pieces of collage from English newspapers.
« I transmit my identity, my intimacy, my roots, and my curiosity using the human figure as a vehicle. »
