About this artwork
In the neighborhood where I live, a village in the Netherlands, wadis are made to collect excess rainwater. Sometimes they are dry, sometimes they are overgrown with all kinds of bushes. Now in winter they are regularly full of water. The wadis are beautiful to see, especially when the sun goes down and beautiful colors and reflections are created.

Credentials
- Works on commission
With a Protestant upbringing enriched with escapades to art-filled French churches, Marein Konijn emerged as a master of oil paint on canvas and wood panel. Her surreal landscapes, layered with a palette knife, evoke a gripping atmosphere rather than mimic exact reality. Her somber yet mesmerizing paintings communicate unstated emotions, embodied in contrasting colors, and paradoxical elements, that magnetically draw the viewer into her introspective world.
