Dieses Bild habe ich 2014 auf Holz gemalt – ein Vulkanausbruch in groben, impulsiven Pinselstrichen, Ausdruck roher Naturgewalt. Beim Abbau einer Ausstellung mit der Gruppe Zustand im Jahr 2017 (Tapetenwerk, Leipzig) zerbrach es, der Riss verlief genau durch den Vulkan. Ich habe diesen Fehler nicht versteckt, sondern kultiviert: Die beiden Hälften auf einer Grundplatte neu montiert und das Ensemble gerahmt. Dieser Schritt macht die Arbeit für mich… besonders – sie zeigt nicht nur Gewalt, sie hat sie auch erfahren. Der Rahmen, den ich eigens dafür gefertigt habe, entspricht nicht musealem Standard und trägt sichtbare Spuren der Handarbeit. Ich bezeichne ihn als „Künstlerrahmen“ – er ist Teil der Arbeit und im Preis inbegriffen.
Marek Eibert primarily uses painting, drawing, and experimental mixed forms, influenced by his training at the Bauhaus University in Weimar and his many years of work in Leipzig. His technique combines elements of bad painting, figurative allusions, and deliberate disruptions—often complemented by collage and spontaneity. In his works, social criticism, humor, and irony merge into a raw visual language that triggers intense contemplation and critical reflection in the viewer.
