About this artwork
The work explores transience as a shared fate and as a cultural imposition: aging as a reflection of our fear of the end, which we repress as long as it doesn't affect us personally. It asks whether a society that idealizes youth can ever learn to see age as more than a deficit.
Marek Eibert primarily uses painting, drawing, and experimental mixed forms, influenced by his training at the Bauhaus University in Weimar and his many years of work in Leipzig. His technique combines elements of bad painting, figurative allusions, and deliberate disruptions—often complemented by collage and spontaneity. In his works, social criticism, humor, and irony merge into a raw visual language that triggers intense contemplation and critical reflection in the viewer.
