About this artwork
In the series, childhood is processed using small black and white photos. Taken from the original environment and placed in a new context. Here are scenes in a forest.
On the one hand, the dandelion is associated with something light and light-hearted, but held in the hand by a child who, dressed like an adult, stands in front of a cold, impenetrable forest.
What remains is the loneliness of the childhood that we have before our eyes. The threatening… forest backdrop, which, like a network, reproduces the conventional narrowness from which there is no escape on this stage of childhood.
In the sequence of the paintings Dandelion, The Rock, In the Boat, Cranes, you can see a cinematic sequence that gives an idea of the doubts and hopes:
In the painting “Cranes”, which looks like an autumn picture, the child is standing in front of a still forest backdrop. Is it possible to escape, dressed up like this? And the gray swallows, which don't make summer, brace themselves against the wind.
