About this artwork
The Pink Sunset #2 is inspired by a beautiful sunset over Sembawang part of Singapore during a boat ride through Northern waters of Singapore.
It was a lockdown time when people were not allowed to travel out of Singapore, so I took this opportunity to explore the most remote corners of the country. Taking a boat in Singapore waters was as far as one could get off the island. Just when the trip was ending, we could witness an extremely beautiful… sunset just over the shore which became a little reminder to me to always appreciate little joys in your life despite all the external circumstances.
The main focus on Pink Sunset #2 is on the sky - I wanted to emphasize the mesmerizing patterns that clouds can form. The sky often serves as a canvas for nature's most dynamic displays, with clouds taking on variety of shapes and hues that evoke different emotions and moods.
Margarita Buttenmueller, a former corporate worker turned full-time artist, employs acrylics and oils with vigorous color exploration. Her style captures nature's essence, creating attractive, vibrant landscapes through keen observation and color dynamics. Her art exudes tranquility and connection, inviting viewers into serene life moments.
