About this artwork
mattered to me. I scraped, layered, and pressed the paint, allowing the image to emerge slowly, as if it were being uncovered rather than invented.
I did not seek smoothness or completion. The face formed through fragments and interruptions, shaped by texture and weight. Light enters unevenly, revealing only part of the figure while the rest remains in shadow. This imbalance reflects my interest in what is hidden, what is endured, and what quietly… persists.
The silence in this painting is not absence. It is something accumulated over time, dense, lived, and resilient. The gaze that remains is intentional and steady, holding its ground without explanation. For me, this work is an act of excavation and recognition, allowing form and emotion to surface through the marks left by the knife.
