About this artwork
In the sea, life is more delicious.
This is an expression I heard in my home country, and I can imagine that if you were a cat mermaid, it would be especially true...you could have as many fish as you want! At least, this cat mermaid seems to believe that. Dressed in a playful mermaid suit, he looks ready to fish. And although most cats don’t really like water, for him, right now, that doesn’t matter much.
He enjoys the sun on his face, like a gentle… caress, while the towering mountains behind him (huge compared to the little cat) give him shelter.
My aim in painting this work was to bring a touch of humor, while also providing that sense of calm we feel when looking at turquoise water reflections. The piece is painted with oils on a professional-quality canvas.
