About this artwork
This work speaks to the extraordinary and almost violent explosion of life that autumn can offer before its rest. The inspiration comes from a specific moment: the sensation of standing before a solitary tree that, for a few days, seems to steal all the sunlight to burn with a color of its own, so intense that it itself becomes a source of heat.
It is nature's latest, dazzling performance.
For me, painting must be not only a visual but also a tactile… experience. I chose to work exclusively with a palette knife and a highly textured impasto technique for this very reason. I wanted the viewer to not only see the leaves, but to almost feel their texture, their volume, their rustling.
