About this artwork
Blue has always been one of my favorite colors, and it often finds its way into my paintings. I love its many shades, from delicate sky blue to deep, rich tones.
I fell in love with hydrangeas while traveling through France. In small provincial towns, I often admired these beautiful, lush flowers growing in the gardens of private homes. Their generous blossoms and wonderful shades of blue stayed in my memory.
In *Blue Hydrangea*, I wanted to capture… the fullness and beauty of this flower through expressive palette knife strokes and rich oil textures. The soft blue petals stand out against the dark background, while the vibrant green vase adds a touch of light and energy.
For me, this painting is a little memory of France and a celebration of a flower I have loved ever since.

Paintings are born from silence.
How do paintings and artists find their way to our hearts?
Paintings are born from silence. Sometimes they emerge with music, sometimes with the sound of rain. Sometimes they carry their own melody.
When color meets sound, when vision dances with touch, something greater than just a painting is born - a connection between hearts.
I share what I see, feel, and experience. I invite you on this journey of perception, where each painting creates its unique path to your heart.
Want to know what the painting tells you? Listen. Maybe it whispers, maybe it sings. Or maybe it just stays silent with you.
Maria Slynko is a contemporary painter working primarily in oils. Using a palette knife, she builds expressive, tactile surfaces in which color, light and texture become as important as the subject itself. Her work moves between impressionistic figuration and a more intuitive, contemporary approach to painting.
