About this artwork
Summers in the country were enchanted. In my grandparents' little house, a jewel of white stone, I spent fantastic days. I played with my dolls, talked to the plants and daydreamed. But there was a cactus, lonely and prickly. I wanted to hold it, but its thorns hurt me. I remember the frustration of that impossible friendship, the desire to comfort it and the bitterness of its rejection. Every evening I came home with my hands full of thorns, hiding… them in my apron. My mother, patiently, removed the needles one by one, while I promised not to touch it again. But its melancholic charm attracted me irresistibly.
Maria Teresa Cristini is a painter, sculptor and digital artist who transforms everyday experiences into works of art. He uses oil and digital painting techniques, and explores three-dimensional painting with poor materials, creating dense and vibrant textures. His works, characterized by bright colors and intense light, reflect the tranquil beauties of his native land, the Marche, and convey sensations of peace and harmony. Maria considers art as the only tool of communication and introspection to represent her world.
