About this artwork
In this work, I wanted to capture the main influences of the twentieth-century avant-garde through the brushstrokes. The colors are plastic, vibrant, and define the subject matter as a whole. With this painting, I wanted to explore the creative process through color and its forms.
Marian De Kort, a Dutch painter with a spontaneous background enriched by experiences in Indonesia, the Netherlands, Paris, and Rome, uses oil, ceramic, paper, and glass as her primary expressive mediums. Her works emerge from material experimentation that evolves from initial figuration to a refined conceptual abstraction, playing on gestures, graphic signs, and visual layers. Through vibrant colors such as red, blue, and gold, she communicates a profound spiritual and cosmological energy, inviting the viewer to immerse themselves in intense emotions and reflections on the human condition.
