Boundless: Sublime Maelstrom is a series of large-scale oil paintings referencing cloud masses, weather systems, and limitless geographical horizons as witnessed in the Canadian plains during a summer punctuated by dramatic meteorological activity. Orphic study is within this series.
The concept of 'boundless' has been universal since the beginning of conscious thinking, encompassing both the sublime and chaos, with the latter drawing twofold meaning… from the ancient Greek word “cha” - holding and releasing. Increasingly powerful forces of nature offer a palpable signifier of the seismic shift in our physical place in this universe, inextricably linking the part we play now, with all and future ways. In this way, Marian embraces more affirmative definitions of chaos, as a state of being that is rife with change, upset and also, potential.
