About this artwork
This thoughtful Amazon looks away, dreams. The verticality of the base on which it rests contrasts sharply with the curves of its body. Her arms are folded in on herself, as if in need of protection. Her hair floats in the wind as very often in my work. The dark patina of the base highlights the details of the only garment she wears.

Marianne Ruston is a French sculptor whose works have been exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions throughout France. She is inspired by femininity, softness, and poetry. Ruston's pieces are also influenced by Italian painting, the grace in composure, hair in the wind, and folds of fabric. Her pieces are modeled using chamotte clay. Once the shape is completed, she fires them and then proceeds with the patina. Some of her compositions are translated into bronze.
