About this artwork
"Hora de soneca" is an illustration done in colored pencils (Faber Castell polychromos) that depicts three men lounging, naked in the sun, enveloped in a frame of vibrant patterns, referencing the meticulous cultural and artisanal know-how that surrounds us every day. The vivid colors, the intense contrast between the resting figures and the background, invite us to feel this imperturbable calm without lacking brightness and color. The scene is inspired…
by a photograph by @michaeloliverlove with the models @arjanbotma @josh_scheepers @mattfehrsen. The scene is thus enhanced by a frame inspired by the azulejos (decorated earthenware tiles) of Portugal, photographed during several stays in Lisbon and Porto.
