In the square of a medium-sized town, a café has set up its terrace. Many people have gathered, some sitting on the terrace, others standing in the open space. It's a time for conviviality, for conversation, discussion, and reunions. Most of these people seem to know each other.
The predominantly blue canvas is treated in such a way that the brushstrokes overlap, giving an impression of a crowd without depicting the figures. Only their attitudes… are suggested by the application of the paint on the canvas.
