About this artwork
Bonne Eau Cove is a realistic work. Here, the sea isn't presented in a seductive way. It's the sea of sailors, smelling of kelp. It's painted at the end of the day, it's winter. Only the seagulls enliven the landscape, in harmony with the lapping of the water against the rocks.
I captured the present in this cold, inspiring, unadorned atmosphere.
This large canvas was exhibited under the glass roof of the Grand Palais in Paris at the Salon des… Artistes Indépendants in 2010 as part of ART EN CAPITAL. This was the artist's second year exhibiting there.
Brushed canvas then worked with a knife for a beautiful impasto and therefore a beautiful presence.
Coming from the pictorial tradition, Marie Josiane Blachon handles oil paint with mastery; his paintings exude the intimate and the atmospheric. His art, characterized by brushstrokes that structure and impasto with a knife that give life and relief, offers an ode to nature by capturing its rhythms and its light. Blachon's works evoke a deep emotion, tending towards an almost spiritual experience of the present, inviting a saving contemplation of nature.
