About this artwork
I painted this picture during the time when the world was turned upside down by the pandemic. I wanted to show the force with which the COVID virus struck the world. It wasn't just a human catastrophe, but it also created a deep rift in society that is still felt today. The rainbow symbolizes the triumph of medicine over the disease. The painting is currently part of an exhibition about COVID at the Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex in Essen.
