About this artwork
The painting "Good Neighbors" depicts a brown bear surrounded by beautiful white trees. The bear looks mighty and majestic, he is the real master of his fabulous forest. He keeps order among plants and animals, and everyone in the forest lives in harmony and tranquility.
However, suddenly new inhabitants appear in the forest: bright Red Cardinal birds. They feel very at ease in the bear's house, and their bright feathers and cheerful songs bring… new colors and sounds to the forest. The bear looks at the new neighbors with confusion. He doesn't know what to expect from the guests, because they don't look like him at all. The bear is big and unhurried, and the birds are bright and cheerful.
The picture makes us think about how we treat those who are different from us. Will the neighborhood be kind, or will it turn into a real confrontation between different sides? The bear and the birds are symbols of differences that can enrich our lives if we are willing to accept and respect them.
