About this artwork
In this work, I explore the primordial dialogue between matter and light. A mixture of lime and plaster mortar is modeled with instinctive gestures, creating a topography of ridges and valleys. The roller application of a metallic gold reveals this interior geography: the peaks capture the light, while the depressions retain the pure white of the material.
From the controlled randomness of the gesture, organic forms emerge that invite close observation:… imaginary flora and stylized bird heads emerge from the surface like fossils in an ancient geological stratum. The work thus becomes a metaphor for creation itself, where light (gold) gives life and form to chaos (matter), revealing a secret and archaic garden.
