About this artwork
While I am painting, I try out and develop formal possibilities. Any part of our world can be the material or the stimulus. I would describe my artistic work as a whole as a kind of digestive act on the one hand and a kind of questioning machine on the other, searching for form and substance. What remains are projection surfaces in which one's own stories can be thought.

Mariola Laschet is a German artist who devoted herself to painting during her work in the stage design department at the Schauspielhaus Bochum. She uses glazing and sometimes pasty techniques. Countless layers of paint overlap on canvases and found objects, creating their own worlds. Her works are impulsive and constantly change during the work process. They are an expression of an "exchange of blows" between the artist and the paint. Laschet's art invites you to play with associations, breaks with the everyday and challenges the imagination. Titles such as "Tuumugtu", "Gatuum" or "Pülupp", which are free in their meaning but not arbitrary, expand the associative network.
