About this artwork
The face appears behind a grille that doesn't truly protect: it separates, fragments, and yet allows the gaze to pass through. A few fragments remain, like pieces of an identity that refuses to disappear.
The hands surrounding the figure evoke both protection and control. They hold the frame together… while seeming to try to prevent what lies within from escaping. The hand in the foreground introduces another tension: it crosses the boundary, as if the body were trying, despite everything, to reclaim its place.
Confinement, therefore, is not merely physical. It becomes a metaphor for the traces that certain experiences leave on our way of inhabiting our own bodies. Yet, behind the bars, the gaze remains. Something remains alive, visible, and irreducibly present.
