In this work I am exploring the repetition of an image that is treated in different ways in each frame. I'm nodding to Andy Warhol's repeating image sequences but taking the images into a more dream like space created by the process of freezing the flowers in ice. This print brings a serene and contemplative atmosphere to the space it hangs in.
The image is a giclee print on Hanemuhle Fine Art Pearl paper. A one centimetre white boarder is added… so the print can be window mounted without image loss. Signature, edition number and date will on the back of the print.

For me photography is a process that can open a window into another world. I specialise in macro photography of botanical subjects. However I do not make scientifically correct images. I use fresh material from my garden and freeze the subjects in deionised water using Petri dishes or large ice cube trays. In a sense this process is a literal freezing of time, analogous to photography itself. Rather than producing ‘tack sharp’ images I use ice to create visual barriers, through bubbles, cracks and distortions to create a sense of other-worldly mystery. The viewer has to work harder to ‘read’ familiar plant forms making the act of seeing more conscious and deliberate. I am now starting to explore mixing deionised water with tap water in different proportions, and how this affects what is revealed and concealed.
