About this artwork
'Malaga,' the mystical and magical name of a town in Spain, full of history and imagination. Mark takes the collector there around the turn of the 20th Century. Picasso would soon be living in Paris beginning his career in painting in the Montmartre. Paint will be flying off the canvas and Picasso will be at the right place at the right time. But Spain will always be on his mind and he will return to his Motherland on occasions. Inspiration abounds.…
Mark's painting, 'Malaga' attempts to reinvigorate the spirit of that era. The reds and the blacks, with conjurings of festivals, bullfights and the heat of the Summer. Graphically placed, a portrait of the bull, free and all powerful, snorting fire and sparking thoughts of a village in the far south in Spain.

« Change is inevitable and something I seek. »
American painter Mark Erickson was first inspired to paint by his grandmother, who was an artist herself. He has since exhibited in major cities across the United States. Erickson works with acrylic on canvas or wood, and sometimes adds additional collage elements. Inspired by literature, comics, and music, his artistic process is like a dance- constantly changing and full of spontaneity. Erickson's abstract expressionist works are bright, atmospheric, and humorous.
