About this artwork
'The River Parlor' is a steady and confident painting with hints of words and shapes of ancient writing. The brush strokes intertwine and connect and the shapes evolve lyrically upwards, to the heavens, the skies above. The painting features bright organic shapes & lines, that hover weightlessly over a field of predominantly black, subtly suggesting figures & objects floating in the dark, the still expanse of space with the written tale in my own…
calligraphic imagery.

« Change is inevitable and something I seek. »
American painter Mark Erickson was first inspired to paint by his grandmother, who was an artist herself. He has since exhibited in major cities across the United States. Erickson works with acrylic on canvas or wood, and sometimes adds additional collage elements. Inspired by literature, comics, and music, his artistic process is like a dance- constantly changing and full of spontaneity. Erickson's abstract expressionist works are bright, atmospheric, and humorous.
