About this artwork
On a dark, cold evening in the fall of 2018, I came to the studio to work on the first pictures in the Metamodernity series. I had to experiment with spontaneous painting. I had to struggle with a new form, a new method, with stubborn acrylic, which I still didn’t draw well. This is how I got started.
In the process, I thought: is the creator obligated to control what escapes from his mind? Does the artist understand what he is creating? Or is he… just a conductor of this incomprehensible strange energy?

Mark Kucherov is a painter and draftsman based in Russia whose works have been featured in solo and group exhibitions nationally.
